Based in most of the 14 communities of Nunavik, the CLWWs (Community Wellness and Liaison Workers) work under the health centres. Their role is to help improve the delivery of health and social services in their own community by participating in prevention activities with other CLSC professionals. Through a community approach, they forge links between CLSC professionals, community organizations and individuals in the community.
You will be responsible for supporting community initiatives and programs such as;
Ø The CLWW Program, the coordinators as well the wellness workers themselves in the implementation of their community- based mandates.
Ø Wellness committees in each community
Ø Organize activities and events that respond to needs identified by communities
Ø Participate in seeking creative, community-based and Inuit-appropriate strategies to prevent targeted health and social problems and to promote healthy lifestyles and overall wellness of the population.
Experience with organizing events and/or activities in communities;
Experience in facilitation and/or giving presentations to large groups;
Ability to write activity reports, follow timelines, prioritize;
Ability to work with multiple partners in an intercultural context;
Excellent Initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Experience with community mobilization initiatives and supporting community initiatives and organizations will be considered an asset;
Oral and written communication skills in two of the three languages used in Nunavik (Inuktitut, English, French), Inuktitut will be prioritized;
Good knowledge of the Office suite (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
Temporary 1-year position (35 hours/week)
Position based in Kuujjuaq or in telework with travel to Nunavik
Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS ($27.08/h to $47.98/h)
Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000/year), isolation premium ($10,627/year), cost-of-living allowance ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, subsidized housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to point of hiring provided, etc.
