Under the supervision of the Department of Planning and Programming’s coordinator of psychosocial and community programs, the successful candidate will be responsible for launching the Aire ouverte intervention program, a model created to offer assistance and support within Nunavik’s existing integrated youth services network. The program provides youth aged 12 to 25 access to a comprehensive range of integrated care and services tailored to the reality and biopsychosocial needs of the region’s younger generation.
The incumbent will be tasked with coordinating and overseeing, in close collaboration with the territory’s youth, regional health centres and community organizations and partners, the development of two Aire ouverte sites on the NRBHSS’ territory. The position also requires collaborating with various stakeholders to increase awareness and ensure access to services for youth between the ages of 12 and 25, including those who are most vulnerable or leery of conventional services. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the consistency and continuity of the services offered to these youngsters, and for favouring an improved transition to adult services at the appropriate time. The position also calls for ensuring that all of the services made available are aligned with the Nunavik reality and culture.
- Quickly implementing the Aire ouverte project, in conjunction with management personnel from the NRBHSS, the region’s health centres and the germane community organizations;
- Rallying youth and forming a youth committee in this regard;
- Developing both internal and external partnerships able to support the project’s launch;
- Working closely with the MSSS’ Aire ouverte team;
- Promoting the Aire ouverte initiative;
- Supporting managers tasked with organizing the activities required to ensure the project’s success;
- Implementing and following up on efforts to have the Aire ouverte project carried out at a site other than the “conventional” service delivery locations;
- Setting up a dedicated project team at the Aire ouverte site;
- Harmonizing the related service offer.
- University degree in social sciences or a combination of relevant training and experience;
- Familiarity with the structure of the health and social services network in the Nunavik region;
- Knowledge and understanding of the problems facing Nunavik youth(between the ages of 12 and 25) and, ability to clearly communicate them;
- Clinical leadership competencies, particularly in terms of prevention and intervention, considered an asset;
- Significant project management experience;
- Experience in coordination of projects involving reorganizations and major changes is considered an asset;
- Significant clinical experience (at least five years) with youth is considered an asset;
- Experience working in an intercultural setting is considered an asset;
- Excellent communication skills in English and French (oral and written). Good knowledge of Inuktitut is a major asset;
- Knowledge of the Office Suite of programs;
- Highly developed planning and organizational skills, and the ability to work within a cooperative setting;
- Adept at creating multiple partnerships and bringing people and organizations on board;
- Organizational and interpersonal communication skills;
- Available for business travel to Nunavik (25 to 40%).
Candidates favoured by the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement will be given priority.
- A two-year contract as a full-time worker (35 hours/week), ideally based in Nunavik. If teleworking position in the South or the North, a minimum of 16 weeks per year presence on the territory will be required;
- An hourly wage that can vary between $25.25 to $45.22, depending on pertinent experience;
- For a candidate based in Kuujjuaq:
- Isolation pay of $10,015/year, cost-of-living bonus of $3,085/year and retention allowance of $6,000/year;
- If hired from a location more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, reimbursement of moving expenses, and fully furnished housing provided at a very affordable cost;
- 3 to 4 round trips to the point of hiring (number will depend on personal circumstances).
