Nunavimmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga (NIP) will become an independent non-profit organization and will be an integrated center for youth and family services led by a board of directors, inspired by Sukait principles and orientations. NIP will offer culturally adapted care for all youths and families. NIP is where families of Nunavik are supported and protected. The name represents both the vision and the structure of Youth and family services in Nunavik.

 
DESCRIPTION

Under the authority of the Executive Director of Nunavimmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga (NIP) and following the orientations of the Sukait working group, the assistant director of Nunavimmi ilagiit papatauvinga shall review the current social services for Nunavik families and youth and propose recommendations and modifications so that they can be more adapted to inuit culture (values, traditions, family conception). Under the authority of the executive NIP director, the NIP assistant director will exercise leadership in a context of transformation, based on sukait orientations and partnerships. He or she will plan and ensure the mobilization of all child, youth and family services stakeholders. The priority will be the development of services related to Nunavummiut needs in regards to family services. More specifically, he or she will need to build a strong plan on recruitment, retention and training of Inuit workforce. In the continuum of child, young and family services, he or she will be building monitoring and motivation tools for the individuals under his responsibility. In collaboration with the Nip management team, he or she will ensure the creation of service corridors as well as the implementation of various strategies and programs culturally safe for the child, youth and family network. Furthermore, the NIP assistant director will be acting as an ambassador for the Nunavimmi ilagiit papatauvingna development and the building of the new integrated services structure towards the actual child, youth and family services network. She or he will offer collaboration, support and represent the Sukait orientations when needed. 

 

 

The NIP assistant director will oversee child, youth and family services for the two health centres and the community services and shall propose strategies and plans of action aimed at relevant and culturally safe services for Nunavimmiut.  The assistant director of Nunavimmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga shall also be responsible for management of the human, physical, financial and information resources of his or her department.

Qualifications

Ø  Three years of experience as a manager in the social services network or community services;

Ø  Effective leadership, acknowledged by the population and leaders;

Ø  Strong knowledge of Nunavik child and families realities;

Ø  Recognized cultural competencies;

Ø  Competencies and creativity to work with a solution oriented approach; 

Ø   Flexibility and sound ability to adapt to an environment in constant change;

Ø  Spoken and written skills in the three languages in use in Nunavik (Inuktitut, English and French)

Ø  Familiarity with the MS Office suite

Ø  Availability to travel regularly within and outside the region as required

 

Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.

Conditions and benefits

•         Permanent, full-time position (35 hours/week)

•         Position based in Kuujjuaq or in telework with occasional travel to Nunavik

•         Salary according to the rules issued by the MSSS (class 40)

 

Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000/year), isolation premium ($10,627/year), cost-of-living allowance ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, subsidized housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to point of hiring provided, etc.
