Under the authority of the Director of Administrative Services and under the supervision of Fixed Assets, Maintenance, and Equipment Replacement Coordinator, the advisor shall participate in the analysis of various capital, renovation and maintenance projects submitted by the institutions of the Nunavik health network as well as establish priorities among those projects. Out of constant concern for rigour, he or she shall support the institutions in designing, planning, following up and carrying renovation, conservation and installation, in accordance with the requirements of the MSSS. He organizes all the activities related to the realization of these projects, such as the definition of the concept, the preparation of the plans and specifications, the calls for tenders and the supervision of the works. He coordinates the activities of professionals and entrepreneur and performs the administrative and financial control of his projects.
He also meets with internal clients to identify the projects objectives.
The advisor shall also participate in management activities related to fixed assets and equipment of the region’s institutions. He or she shall be responsible for managing the region’s fixed assets and ensure professional supervision of repair and maintenance work, applying an approach centred on the clientele.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other appropriate discipline
Sound overall knowledge of the construction industry and proven experience in project management
Minimum of five years experience related to these activity sectors and the health and social services network
Excellent command of at least two of the three languages in use in the region—Inuktitut, English and French
Mastery of the MS Office suite and Actif + réseau
Excellent capacity for analysis, teamwork and the client-based approach
Professional experience in the region shall be considered a major asset
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
Permanent, full-time position (35 hours/week)
Position based in Kuujjuaq
Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS (28.33$/h to 52.88$/h)
Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000/year), isolation premium ($10,627/year), cost-of-living allowance ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, subsidized housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to point of hiring provided, etc.
