Under the authority of the director of Planning and Programming and the direct supervision of the coordinator for integrated services for children, youths and families, the officer shall contribute to the planning, organization and evaluation of family councils and elders’ councils in Nunavik.
The officer shall work closely with the various partners of the region involved in service programs for children, youths and families, and more specifically Nunavimmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga (family council).
His or her principal tasks shall be to see to the implantation of family councils in Nunavik and ensure training for the family-council facilitators, support for the persons concerned and creation of the follow-up and monitoring tool.
As needed, the officer shall formulate recommendations relative to community involvement in the process of youth protection, to ensure that the established procedures, protocols, intervention practices and tools respect Inuit values and culture and that the programs are adapted to the culture of Nunavik.
Further, he or she shall participate in various committees responsible for adapting and improving the services offered to children, youths and families.
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences; however, a combination of relevant training and experience may be considered
Minimum of three years’ experience in helping relationships
Excellent oral and written skills in French and English; ability to speak Inuktitut shall be considered an asset
Familiarity with the MS Office suite
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
Temporary, full-time position of one year with possibility of extension
Position based in Puvirnituq
Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS ($25.25/h to $45.22/h)
Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000$/year), isolation premium ($10,015/year), cost-of-living allowance ($5,118/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Puvirnituq, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Puvirnituq to point of hiring provided, etc.
As the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services does not maintain housing in the community of Puvirnituq, it cannot assume any obligation to provide housing for the employee hired for this position.
