2020-056 Planning and Programming Officer, Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

Under the authority of the director of Planning and Programming and the supervision of the advisor for psychosocial and community affairs, the officer shall assume joint responsibility, with the officers responsible for the portfolios, for development, support, training and organization in relation to regional initiatives in suicide prevention and mental health.

 

The officer’s responsibilities shall include:

 

supporting the development of services and trajectories for social services and programs for mental health and suicide prevention;

defining the needs in terms of training and clinical support for social services and programs for mental health and suicide prevention;

seeking out best practices in general social services and programs for mental health and suicide prevention;

planning and validating follow-up and control measures;

identifying partners and developing agreements to respond to the needs.

 

The officer shall work jointly with the NRBHSS’ officers, the key interveners of the two health centres and the region’s partners involved in the portfolio and shall participate in various regional committees as required. He or she shall also ensure that all proposed services are adapted to Nunavik’s culture and social realities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or other related discipline

Experience in project management shall be considered an asset

Experience with best practices in suicide prevention, intervention in suicidal crises and postvention, ideally in an Inuit or aboriginal setting

Experience in psychosocial intervention

Excellent oral and written skills in French and English; oral and written skills in Inuktitut shall be considered a major asset

Solid skills with the MS Office suite

Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Conditions and benefits

Temporary, full-time position (35 h/week) of one year with possibility of extension

Position based in Kuujjuaq or on telework with frequent travel to the North

Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS ($25.25/h to $45.22/h)

Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000/year), isolation premium ($10,015/year), cost-of-living allowance ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, subsidized housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to point of hiring provided, etc.
