2021-066 Planning and Programming Officer, Food Security

Under the authority of the coordinator for the promotion of healthy lifestyles and prevention, the officer shall contribute to the planning and implantation of programs and initiatives for improving access to healthy foods in the region. He or she shall also contribute to the efforts of the Department of Public Health concerning development of a regional, cross-sector strategy for food security.

 

The officer shall work closely with the team responsible for promotion of healthy lifestyles and prevention, the other departments of the NRBHSS and regional partners. His or her responsibilities shall include:

 

coordinating a call for projects on food security, facilitating the process for rendering of accounts for local organizations and ensuring follow-up with the various partners involved;

supporting local initiatives on food security (e.g., community kitchens, gardening projects, cooking workshops with traditional foods) through field support and training;

coordinating work on the regional strategy for food security;

contributing to the development and implantation of regional programs and policies on food security and the promotion of healthy lifestyles jointly with regional partners.

Experience required

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, social sciences or other relevant field

Experience and knowledge in the issues of food security and food systems in northern or remote regions

Excellent capacity for knowledge transfer

Experience in working or living in Inuit or Indigenous communities shall be considered a major asset

Experience in project management shall be considered an asset

Knowledge in healthy eating

Membership with the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec shall be considered an asset

Excellent oral and written skills in French and English; oral and written skills in Inuktitut shall be considered a major asset

Good knowledge of the MS Office environment

 

Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.

Conditions and benefits

Temporary, full-time position (35 hours/week) of one year with possibility of extension

Position based in Kuujjuaq

However, given the pandemic and the housing shortage, the job could begin on a telework basis with occasional trips to Kuujjuaq

 

Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS (25.25$/h to 45.22$/h)          

 

Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000/year), isolation premium ($10,015/year), cost-of-living allowance ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, subsidized housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to point of hiring provided, etc.
