The regional plan of action to eliminate tuberculosis in Nunavik includes population screening campaigns for tuberculosis. Under the direct supervision of the pivot nurse and within a multidisciplinary team, the laboratory technician shall perform diagnostic tests for tuberculosis using GeneXpert.
Contribute to the setup and closing of a mobile laboratory;
Perform diagnostic tests for tuberculosis using GeneXpert in a negative-pressure chamber;
Cooperate with the team in preparing and shipping specimens to outside laboratories;
Ensure management of biomedical waste;
Serve as the team’s focal point for all laboratory procedures;
Carry out any other related tasks.
Appropriate collegial-studies diploma
Experience in a remote region or with tuberculosis shall be considered an asset
Availability for work in a remote region
Excellent spoken and written skills in at least two of the three languages in use in Nunavik (French, English, Inuktitut)
Capacity for work under pressure and according to a variable schedule
Capacity for adaptation
Aptitude for teamwork
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
Temporary, part-time position of one year with possibility of extension
Regular stays of several weeks in the Nunavik communities
Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS
During travel,northern benefits stipulated under the working conditions shall be paid and lodging provided.
