Illiap Paanganik Qaujisarniq is a project aiming to implement a pilot cervical cancer-screening program with human papillomavirus (HPV) self-sampling as an alternative screening option to regular PAP.
Under the authority of the Coordinator of Medical Affairs and Physical Health, you will carry out a key work of awareness and prevention of cervical cancer in the communities and, ultimately, help improve access to cervical cancer screening for women in Nunavik, resulting in better outcomes.
Specifically, you will need to:
- Co-develop and validate promotional and educational resources on HPV, cervical cancer, and screening, in collaboration with the research team and Advisory Committee;
- Explore and propose community relevant approaches for making information broadly available and accessible;
- Share knowledge and raise community awareness on HPV, cervical cancer, and HPV self-sampling;
- Act as a liaison between the community and the clinic by encouraging women to come for screening, while also ensuring adequate understanding and care;
- Perform any other related duties at the request of his/her immediate supervisor and the Research Team.
Desire to play a key role in cervical cancer in the community;
Spoken and written skills in lnuktitut and English or French;
Excellent communication skills;
Ability to work collaboratively;
Flexibility in the work schedule as weekly hours may fluctuate.
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
Temporary part-time assignment of 2 years with possibility of extension;
Flexible hours depending on the project stage and minimum 5 hours per week;
Based in Kuujjuaq;
Salary according to the standards in force in the health and social services network ($27.08 to $47.98/h)
