Under the authority of the NRBHSS director of Inuit Values and Practices (IVP) and the supervision of the Residential Health Support coordinator, the candidate shall provide support services to Nunavik communities.
The selected candidate will be asked to deliver the following activities:
• Provide mental health support to individuals, families and groups within the On the Land Program;
• Provide community education, support and activities;
• Provide treatment referrals;
• Collaborate with local community partners.
The support worker will work in collaboration with the other IVP Residential Health Support Workers, in collaboration with the Nunavik Health Centers, regional organizations, Nunavik communities and schools.
• Excellent knowledge of Nunavik communities and culture;
• Experience working in Inuit mental health and wellness issues;
• Helping and counselling skills (a requirement);
• Proven capacity and flexibility to support the emotional needs and provide direction to a potentially large number of individuals in need;
• Good communications skills (oral and written);
• Spoken and written skills in lnuktitut and English or lnuktitut and French.
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
Temporary assignment, full-time position (35 hours/week)
Position based in Kuujjuaq
Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS (27.08$/h to 47.98$/h)
Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000/year), isolation premium ($10,627/year), cost-of-living allowance ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, subsidized housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to point of hiring provided, etc.
