2019-072-02 Administrative Technician, Accounts Payable

Under the authority of the director of Administrative Services and the supervision of the coordinator of financial services, the administrative technician shall be responsible for the accounts-payable process. He or she shall ensure review and payment of invoices in accordance with established policies and procedures.


The technician’s responsibilities shall include:


receiving and reviewing invoices;

checking invoices and obtaining the required approval;

for invoices with a purchase order, checking prices, quantities and other pertinent information and obtaining written proof of reception of merchandise;

checking coding;

managing suppliers and capturing invoices in the Espresso software;

checking and balancing account statements with the invoices received;

checking data capture with the purchase records;

preparing payments and sending them to the immediate superior;

attaching invoices to payments and filing them;

carrying out other accounting tasks and assisting the financial-services team in carrying out its various tasks.


Collegial-studies diploma in administration with accounting or finance option; however, a combination of relevant experience and training may be considered

Experience of at least two years in similar functions

Excellent skills with the MS Office suite

Excellent oral and written skills in at least two of the three languages in use in the region: Inuktitut, English and French

Proven aptitudes for teamwork and the client approach

Resourcefulness, autonomy and initiative

Familiarity with the Espresso software shall be considered an asset

Work experience in a northern region shall be considered a major asset

 Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.

Conditions and benefits

Permanent, full-time position (35 hours/week)

Position based in Kuujjuaq

Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS

Northern benefits: retention premium ($6,000/year), isolation premium ($10,015/year), cost-of-living allowance ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, subsidized housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to point of hiring provided, etc.
