Under the supervision of the infectious diseases coordinator and as a member of the infectious diseases team of the Public Health Department of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (RRSSSN), the nurse or nurse clinician team leader will coordinate population screening activities for tuberculosis and/or sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), including syphilis.
You will need to be available to work in a Nunavik community for a period of 4-6 weeks in the fall of 2023 or winter 2024 for a scheduled screening with a door-to-door approach.
More specifically, you will :
• Review screening algorithms with the NRBHSS public health team and ensure their application;
• Supervise a multidisciplinary team (nurses, local public health workers, interpreters, etc.)
• Coordinate screening activities (eg door-to-door, school) and contribute to communication activities and community commitments;
• Liaise between the screening team and the team for patient management;
• Act as liaison between the NRBHSS team, the health center and the community;
• Provide training to new nurses and Inuit public health workers;
• Participate in screening activities when necessary (take blood samples (eg quantify), urine samples (eg gonorrhea and chlamydia screening), induced sputum, etc.);
•Perform other related duties.
• DEC in nursing or bachelor's degree in nursing;
• Member of the OIIQ;
• Up-to-date CPR/DEA certification;
• Experience in team management / coordination a major asset;
• Mandatory English-French bilingualism;
• Excellent ability to work under pressure;
• Diplomacy and positive and unifying leadership;
• Skilled in conflict management;
• Great flexibility and ready to work according to a variable schedule;
• Excellent adaptability;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Facilitate to animate meetings;
• Knowledge of the Office Suite;
• Experience in Nunavik and knowledge of Inuit culture an asset;
• Experience in vaccination/vaccination campaign, tuberculosis and/or STBBI an asset;
• Driver's license in good standing;
• Be available between September and the end of December 2023 for a period of 4-6 weeks or in winter-spring 2024 for other screening activities.
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
One-year occasional part-time temporary position with possibility of extension;
During travel, the northern premiums are paid and accommodation is provided;
Salary according to the rules established by the MSSS ($26.22/h to $47.98/h).
