2019-089 Advisor for Infectious Diseases, Sexually Transmitted and Bloodborne Infections (STBBIs)

Under the authority of the coordinator for infectious diseases and as member of the infectious-diseases team of the Nunavik Department of Public Health, the advisor for infectious diseases shall support the activities of the regional plan of action in public health. He or she shall primarily be assigned to the portfolio of sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections (STBBIs), particularly syphilis. More specifically, he or she shall:

 

-           contribute to activities in preventing and managing STBBI cases on the territory;

-           contribute to follow-up to syphilis cases in the communities (epidemiological investigations) and to preventive intervention among infected persons and their partners (PIIPP);

-           contribute to the development and update of tools for treating and preventing syphilis and other STBBIs as well as carrying out activities in STBBI prevention;

-           offer clinical support on STBBIs to the clinicians of both health centres.

 

The advisor shall occasionally be required to travel on the territory to support clinicians in preventive or control interventions, provide training for interveners or contribute to STBBI-screening activities.

 

The advisor may, as needed, be required to contribute to other issues in infectious diseases.

 

Qualifications

University degree in nursing sciences

Membership in good standing with the OIIQ

Experience in prevention and control of infectious diseases shall be considered an asset

Experience in public health and STBBIs shall be considered a major asset

Experience in a remote region shall be considered an asset

Spoken and written skills in French and English; knowledge of Inuktitut shall be considered a major asset

Ability to work in a multicultural setting and within a multidisciplinary team

Familiarity with the issues relevant in Nunavik and with the culture shall be considered an asset

 

Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.

 

 

Conditions and benefits

Temporary, full-time position of one year with possibility of extension

Position based in Québec City

Occasional stays in the region’s communities

Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS

 

Note that employees of the health and social services network are eligible for northern leave without pay.
