Under the authority of the director of Planning and Programming and the supervision of the advisor for adult and community programs, the officer shall contribute to the planning, organization, development and evaluation of the addictions program and its activities. He or she shall work jointly with the region’s partners involved in the clinical project for addictions and shall participate in the various regional committees related to the program. When required, he or she shall also participate in the regional committee of respondents for the addictions portfolio.
More specifically, the officer shall work closely with the region’s two health centres, notably with the two pivot interveners to ensure the setup of services for prevention, intervention and follow-up in relation to the MSSS’ plan of action and the regional priorities. He or she shall also ensure that all services are adapted to Nunavik’s culture and social realities.
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or other related discipline; a certificate in substance-abuse treatment or addictions treatment shall be considered an asset; in the absence of a certificate, experience in addictions intervention with Inuit clientele may be considered
Experience in providing training and organizing training activities
Sound knowledge of the health and social services network
Experience with community programs and services
Excellent oral and written skills in French and English; oral and written skills in Inuktitut shall be considered a major asset
Sound skills with the MS Office suite
Excellent communications skills (oral and written)
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
