SUPERVISOR: Director of Youth Protection (DYP)
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible

FUNCTIONS: 
In collaboration and under the authority of the Director of Youth Protection, the Assistant to the Director of Youth Protection shall ensure the development, the support, the organization, the distribution, the evaluation and the review of service programs under its jurisdiction in accordance with the Youth Protection the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the legislative provisions regarding adoption and the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services. In addition, she/he legally assumes, within the framework of these laws, the responsibility of the acts carried out by herself/himself or by the persons authorized by the director. She/he assists the director, takes part and oversees the development and mobilization of all the human resources in her/his management (heads of departments, clinical advisors, psychosocial workers and administrative staff). She/he also participates in the evaluation of the staff's contribution. She/he replaces the Director of Youth Protection during his absences. She/he could be called upon to replace Heads of Services for short periods. She/he ensures on-call services for psychosocial emergencies (support to interveners).

Qualifications

Must withhold a First Terminal University Diploma in Human Sciences as: Social Work, Criminology, Psychology or Psycho-education;

Master’s degree in management will be considered an asset;

Experience in a northern or remote area will be considered an asset;

Have theoretical and practical knowledge of the Youth Protection Act and adoption;

Have good knowledge of the clinical processes on the matter of Youth Protection and have profound knowledge of the concept of protection;

Have a theoretical knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Act Respecting Health and Social Services;

Have good knowledge of Youth Protection intervention protocols;

Ability to communicate in English and in French (Bilingual);

Knowledge of Inuktitut would be a great asset;

Possess at least five (5) years of management experience;

Can easily adapt to different cultures and environments;

Possess the capacity to summarize and analyze;

Ability and interest to work in a team and in close collaborations with partners;

Capacity to work under pressure in emergency contexts;

Autonomous, responsible, active listener; can take initiative, rigorous and has good judgement;

Can be asked to travel to different communities.

Conditions and benefits

SALARY:  Working conditions shall be those applicable to the mid-managers of the Health and Social Services network.     
Class 39  Min: 87 137 $   Max:  113 278 $ / year
ISOLATION PREMIUM:10 747 $/ year or more, as per the family status
RETENTION PREMIUM: 6 000 $ / year or more as per the number of years of service
HIGH LIVING COST: 3 870 $ / year, or more as per the number of dependents

Working conditions shall be those applicable to the managers of the Health and Social Services network.

Additional northern benefits are applicable. Any person recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she is called upon to perform his/her duties, will be granted annual trips and lodgi ng, as per status.
