Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre has adopted a development plan which provides for an expansion of its services and workforce as well as for the building of a new facility. The new Centre will see:
- An increased in volume of individual adult guests;
- The welcoming of adult guests of both sexes simultaneously;
- The delivery of family therapeutic services.
In this context, the Liaison Worker plays a crucial role in:
- Promoting Isuarsivik as an Inuit culturally sensitive recovery center offering distinctive and specific programs to deal with all kind of addictions and intergenerational trauma;
- Providing assistance to guests prior, during and after the cycle to support the recovery of the Nunavimmiut;
- Offer support services to guests of the recovery Centre to ensure their physical and mental well-being after the treatment program and ensure proper support services are in place when guests return to their home community (aftercare; specialized services; etc.).
Purpose of Position
Under the direction of the Continued Care Manager, the Liaison Worker is responsible for support preparation of guests prior to their admission to the program, ensure guests are prepared to reintegrate into their community/family and provide after-care support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides initial assessment and screening of guests contacting Isuarsivik for service requests
- Liaises with other community agencies/professionals to develop and maintain referral sources
- Ensures smooth transition of guests to the center
- Manage the case work portion of client’s files while they are in program
- Assist guests in re-integration preparation and support plan
- Liaison with specialized care, referring organizations and local interveners to ensure guests are well supported after the recovery program
- Provide regular counselling to guests via in person, online and phone sessions
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- With the direction of the Continued Care Manager, the Liaison Worker provides assistance to the clinical team and performs other related duties as assigned.
MENTORSHIP OR TRAINING PROGRAM AVAILABLE
(IF REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET)
- Cegep diploma in a discipline of social intervention would be an asset;
- 2 years in the field of social intervention and/or counsellor;
- Experience in the field of social intervention, addictions, or wellness
Knowledge and Skills
- Personal and professional experience in a cross-cultural setting;
- Ability to draft reports, documents and work plans on a computer;
- Strong ability to work independently and/or in a team;
- Ability to work outside standard office hours;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Candidate must be willing to submit to a criminal records check.
- Ability to read, write and speak English and Inuktitut is mandatory.
- Isuarsivik is undergoing a major development process that requires flexibility, creativity and adaptability;
- The incumbent must balance multiple demands and urgent requests from guests, staff and partners;
- Must be prepared to meet the personal and professional challenges associated with living in a northern, isolated community with limited resources.
- Working conditions are based on Nunavik’s health and social services network.
- Salary will be determined depending on qualifications and experience.
