Human relation agent -mobile response team and Nitsiq team-

The Inuulitsivik Health Centre, with more than 900 employees, is part of the Québec health and social services network (Nunavik region). It provides front-line health and social services, notably for prevention, evaluation, diagnostics and treatment, rehabilitation and support, for the population of the Hudson subregion of roughly 7 000 persons. Moreover, it provides services related to youth protection and assumes the administration of Ullivik, located in Dorval, for the Nunavik region. The Ullivik’s mission is to receive Inuit travelling to Montréal to receive health services in participating institutions. The Inuit population is spread among seven communities along the Hudson coast, from Kuujjuaraapik to Salluit.

Under the authority of the Director and under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Community Services, the person works on in co-intervention with a KRPF police officer as well as on the Nitsiq team on a rotating schedule.  The MIT team works in collaboration with community partners, more specifically with clsc social service workers, krpf and CSI hospital services to respond to emergency calls involving people in psychosocial crises and in immediate danger.  The Nitsiq team works in collaboration with saqijuq's judicial actors and educators to offer alternative justice measures to people who have committed criminal offences under the influence of alcohol or drugs.Works and intervenes as a team with a KRPF police officer to respond to psychosocial emergency calls; 

  • Conducts social patrols in the community to carry out preventive interventions; 
  • Intervenes directly with clients in crisis or conflict situations; 
  • Works in collaboration with IHC partners (such as social workers, rehabilitation services, community workers, nurses, doctors, residential mental health resources) as well as those in the community including city council, KRPF, etc.; 
  • Receives and evaluates references made to Nitsiq;
  • Evaluates and follows up on Nitsiq clients and writes reports for the court;
  • Implements all required services for Nitsiq clients and follows up closely with the client's processing centre (Portage or Isuarsivik); 
  • Provides statistics to the Saqijuq project coordinator, nitsiq clinical leader, community service directors and krpf captain;
  • Participates in the training and orientation of new employees;
  • Performed any other duties required by the Community Services Branch.


• Final university degree in human relations (psychology, psychoeducation, social work, criminology, etc.) 
• Graduate degree in intervention would be an asset
• Minimum of two years of experience in the health and social services network 
• Addiction and mental health intervention Crisis intervention
• Open-mindedness and flexibility 
• Great adaptability 
• Multidisciplinary teamwork skills
• Respect for Inuit culture and its traditions. 
• Hold a valid driver's licence
• Be able to speak two of the 3 languages used in Nunavik: Inuktitut, French or English
• Best practices in suicide prevention in Nunavik
• Mobile intervention team training de l’École National de Police du Québec (ENPQ)


Conditions and benefits

Temporary full time position based in Puvirnituq;
Hourly rate according to agreement; between $25.25 and $45.22;
Day shift, 35hrs/week;
Collective insurance;
Maximum of 16 weeks of leave per year;
3 to 4 annual outings depending on status;
Freight premium $ 115.64 / week;
Retention premium $ 114.99 / week;
Remoteness premium $ 191.93 / week without dependents, $ 338.29 / week with dependents;

Air transport paid by the center.
