The Inuulitsivik Health Centre, with more than 900 employees, is part of the Québec health and social services network (Nunavik region). It provides front-line health and social services, notably for prevention, evaluation, diagnostics and treatment, rehabilitation and support, for the population of the Hudson subregion of roughly 7 000 persons. Moreover, it provides services related to youth protection and assumes the administration of the Northern Québec Module (MNQ), located in Montréal, for the Nunavik region. The MNQ’s mission is to receive Inuit travelling to Montréal to receive health services in participating institutions. The Inuit population is spread among seven communities along the Hudson coast, from Kuujjuaraapik to Salluit.

Under the authority of the director of Youth Protection, the human-relations officer shall carry out activities in evaluating and reviewing reports as well as designing and applying intervention plans in response to situations of compromise among the clients. He or she shall also set up measures ordered by the court or by agreements for voluntary measures. The officer shall be required to cover certain shifts for psychosocial duty. He or she may be required to work in the department for application of measures or evaluation-referral, as well as assume any other related tasks at the request of the immediate superior.

  • Bachelor’s degree in humanities, such as social work, criminology, psychology, psychoeducation
  • Membership in the OTSTCFQ or competency to perform reserved activities
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of the Youth Protection Act and the concept of protection
  • Experience working with children
  • Excellent oral and written skills in French and English
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent capacity to adapt to a different environment and culture
  • Advanced capacity for analysis and synthesis
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a context of emergencies and crises
Conditions and benefits

  • Hourly rate from $25.25 to $45.22

  • Isolation premium from $191.93 to $399.10 per week depending on village and status

  • Storage expenses, if applicable, assumed by the employer
