HUMAN RELATIONS AGENT - ADDICTION WORKER

The Inuulitsivik Health Center, with more than 950 employees, is part of the Quebec health and social services network, Nunavik region. It provides the population of the Hudson's Bay Territory with first-line health and social services. The Inuit population is distributed in seven (7) communities established on the coast of Hudson Bay from Kujjuaraapik to Salluit.

Under the direction of the director of community services, the addiction worker carries out culturally adapted interventions aimed at the rehabilitation or support of adults struggling with problems of addiction to psychoactive substances, gambling or gambling. internet use and concomitant difficulties (if any). It can also intervene with members of their entourage.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure individual, couple or family follow-up of adults with addiction problems or members of their entourage;
  • Offer group support or rehabilitation services to adults with addiction problems or to members of their entourage;
  • Offer services directly at the Inuulitsivik Health Center or elsewhere in the community according to the needs identified by the team;
  • Assess the situation and the needs of people using standardized tools and develop the intervention plan in line with this assessment and with the objectives targeted by the person;
  • Work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams of the CSI, the other stakeholders involved with the person and the partners of the community and ensure the support of the person in the resources that can contribute positively to his objectives;
  • Liaise with the network of addictions partners and others;
  • Act as a resource person for village workers and general psychosocial services workers on addiction service trajectories and early addiction intervention;
  • In collaboration with stakeholders in the prevention and promotion program, contribute to promotion and prevention activities related to addictions;
  • Meet the requirements for record keeping and statistical reports;
  • Perform any other related tasks at the request of his immediate superior or in connection with the modification or improvement of the addiction service offer;
  • Any other related tasks requested by the superior;

Qualifications
  • Final university degree in human sciences such as: criminology, social work, sexology, psychology.
  • University certificate in addiction would be an asset;
  • Essential bilingualism (French and English), knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the addiction services network as well as standardized assessment tools would be a major asset;
  • Good knowledge of harm reduction and motivational approaches, openness to be trained at this level and to intervene in a philosophy that does not only target abstinence;
Experience required
  • Have relevant work experience of at least two years with a clientele struggling with addiction problems;
  • Experience working in a remote area would be an asset;
Essential skills and aptitudes
  • Openness to working in low-threshold services and accepting the person where they are in their journey;
  • Good knowledge of the cultural reality of Nunavik;
  • Leadership, initiative and autonomy and ability to create links with community resources;
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and interest in sharing knowledge and experiences with colleagues;
  • Valid driver's license
Conditions and benefits

Full time permanent 
Shift: Day (35 days/week)

  • Salary between 25,25$/h and 45,22$/h
  • Northern bonuses 
    • CARGO premium : 126,93$ / week (in Akulivik) ; 
    • Remoteness premium : between 240,25$ and 423,53$ / week;
    • Retention premium: 134.15$ / week;
  • Furnished housing provided;
  • 3 to 4 outings per year depending on family status;  
  • Air transportation paid by the center;
