Human Relations Officer - Flying team
(Replacement of in Kuujjuaq and in the communities)

STATUS:  Temporary full-time for one year with possibility of prolongation (35 hours/week)
IMMEDIATE SUPERIOR:  Head of Program (Social Services)
STARTING DATE:   As soon as possible

In the context of temporary replacement of regular staff in different communities

Intervene on clients struggling with various social problems such as domestic violence, substance abuse, suicide

Intervene in crisis situations, implying to ensure on rotation, the psychosocial emergency services 24/7 including the taking of emergency measures under the Youth Protection Act

Ensures replacements of the Intake worker in Kuujjuaq and in the communities, as needed.
Works with the Social Assistants in the communities

Collaborate and support as needed, social agencies in the community

Intervene according to case, using an individual approach (brief therapy), family (systemic) and community approach

Ensures follow ups of short term client cases

Promotes the multidisciplinary approach with different CLSC programs: mental health, suicide prevention and addiction

Performs any other related duties at the request of his immediate superior



Bachelor's degree in social work or psycho-education, preferably clinical orientation

Must be a member of ‘Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec OU de l’Ordre des psychoéducateurs et psychoéducatrices du Québec’ (in accordance with the Act 24)

Minimum of 3 years of experience in crisis intervention as well as with mentally ill persons

Fluency in English and French (spoken and written); knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset

Ability to work in  team and to offer support within the systemic approach (trans-cultural preferred) to colleagues

Organizational skills, initiative and autonomy

Available to travel

Conditions and benefits

SALARY: Min: $ 883.75  Max: $ 1 582.70 for 35 hours
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $ 191.93 or $ 338.29  per week, depending on the family status
CARGO PREMIUM:  $ 59.14 per week or more, depending on the family status

Any employee recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she/he is called upon to perform her/his duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit in shared house or transit if required.
