Human Relations Officer
SERVICE : CLSC Psychosocial Intake- Kuujjuaq
STATUS : Temporary full-time
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Head of Programs (Social Services)

MANDATE :
The human relations officer exercises activities of conceptualization, orientation, actualization, analysis, and evaluation in one or more social programs. He intervenes on a psychosocial level by making use of an interdisciplinary philosophy and collaborates in the planning of activities and the evaluation of quality. He participates to the promotion and prevention activities.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS :
Intervenes and evaluates psychosocial needs for clients struggling with various mental and social issues (domestic violence, substance addiction, suicide, personality disorder, etc.);
Work with an individual, family or community approach with the multidisciplinary team;
Sensitize and mobilize the population around social problems;
Plan, organize and undertake prevention activities in the community;
Ensures long-term case follow-ups;
Evaluate clients for residential alcohol and drug treatment programs;
Liaise with the various residential alcohol and drug treatment centres, facilitating client admissions and assuring the needed follow-up pending discharge;
Intervene in crisis situations within the community of Kuujjuaq;
Participate in the 24 hour psychosocial emergency services including emergency measures as per the Youth Protection Act;
Refer clients to appropriate external resources, if needed;
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case discussions and various committees as required;
Take over other tasks when a team member is on leave (Intake, social services, villages, etc..);
Perform all other related duties requested by immediate superior;
Replace psychosocial services in different communities.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychoeducation, criminology or Sexology;
Must be a member of his professional order;
Possess at least 2 years of related experience in CLSC;
Work experience in crisis center is an asset;
Work experience in remote region in an asset;
Valid membership with a Professional Association;
Fluent in English and French (spoken & written) knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;
Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and interested in sharing knowledge and experience with co-workers;
Methodical, responsible and autonomous;
Available to travel in the different villages of the Ungava coast;
Hold a valid driver licence.
SALARY : Min: 919.80$ Max: 1646.40$ for 35 hours
ISOLATION PREMIUM : 199.67$ /week or more depending on the family status
HIGH COST OF LIVING : 61.16$ /week or more depending on family status
RETENTION PREMIUM : 114.99$ /week or more depending on the number of years of service
Any employee recruited in Québec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she/he is called upon to perform her/his duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per her/his status.
