HUMAN RELATIONS OFFICER OR SOCIAL WORKER

Under the authoritý of the Director and the supervision of the Assistant Director of Community Services, the individual works on the mobile response team in co-intervention with a KRPF police officer as well as the Nitsiq team on a rotating schedule.

The MIT team works in collaboration with community partnerś specifically with CLSC social service workers, KRPF and CSI hospital services to respond to emergency calls involving people in psychosocial crises and in immediate danger.

The Nitsiq team works in collaboration with the judicial actors and educators of Saqijuq to offer alternative justice measures to people who have committed criminal offences under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Works and intervenes as a team with a KRPF police officer to respond to psychosocial emergencies;
  • Conducts social patrols in the community to provide preventative interventions;
  • Intervenes directly with clients in crisis or conflict situations;
  • Works in collaboration with CSI partners (such as social workers, rehabilitation services, community workers, nurses, physicians, residential mental health resources) as well as those in the community including the municipal council, KRPF, etc;
  • Receives and assesses referrals made to Nitsiq.
  • Assesses and follows up on Nitsiq clients and prepares reports for the court.
  • Implements all required services for Nitsiq clients and follows up closely with the client's treatment center (Portage or Isuarsivik).
  • Provides statistics to the Saqijuq Project Coordinator, the Nitsiq Clinical Leader, the Community Services Directors and the KRPF Captain

Qualifications
  • University degree in human relations (psychology, psycho-education, social work, criminology, etc.)
  • Graduate degree in intervention would be an asset

  • Respect for the Inuit culture and its traditions.
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Ability to speak two of the three languages used in Nunavik: Inuktitut, French or English
Conditions and benefits

Full time permanent 
Shift: Day (35 days/week)
Temporary full time 
Day shift (35h/week) 

  • Salary between $27.08 and $47.98
  • Northern bonuses 
    • CARGO premium: $126.93 / week: 
    • Remoteness premium: between $240.25 and $423.53 / week; 
    • Retention premium; $134.15 / week;
  • Furnished housing provided;
  • 3 to 4 outings per year depending on family status;  
Air transportation paid by the center;
