Youth Protection – Kuujjuaq  -  Intake DYP
STATUS: Temporary full-time   (35 hours/week)  One year with possibility of prolongation
IMMEDIATE SUPERIOR:  Assistant Director Youth Protection
STARTING DATE:  As soon as possible

Person who, under the authority of the Assistant of YPD, article 32, exercises social type activities using techniques in accordance with her function.  The person assumes the following responsibilities;

Ensures information, support and welcoming services;  treats the reports and information requests generally received by telephone in accordance with the protocol of reception and treatment of the reports and information;

Collects pertinent information, permitting the clearest possible decision concerning the decision to maintain, or not, the report; decides of the pertinence of intervening on the ground with concerned personal; conducts the field verification as required; decides if the report is to maintain with the concept of protection criteria; decides if an emergency intervention is required and refers the file to concerned employees;

Determines the degree of emergency for the intervention; writes up the reports and sends them to concerned persons;

Refers persons signaling a situation or requesting an information towards other resources when needed; ensures the continuity of services with the personal witch have done ground verifications and the social emergency personal;Travels to the various communities of Ungava according to the needs of the service


Must hold a Bachelor degree in Human Sciences in : Social Work, Social Services, Criminology, Psychology or Psycho-Education;

In the absence of an HRO application that meets all the requirements of the position, a candidate with a technique in an appropriate discipline (ex.: social work, special education, delinquency intervention, etc.) may be considered.  If a technician candidate is selected, the applicable salary scale will be the one that corresponds to his/her level of education.

To have a practical and theoretical knowledge of Youth Protection Act and the protection concept

To possess pertinent experience working with children

Ability to communicate correctly in English and French, Inuktitut is an asset

Ability to adapt to a different culture and environment

A sense for analysis and synthesis

Capacity of working in a context of emergency, instability and pressure

Capacity of working in a team

Discrete, autonomous, emphatic, diplomat, responsible, with a good sense of listening, added with initiative, strictness and proper judgment

Respect for the clientele and for authority

Must have a valid driver licenseAvailable to travel

Conditions and benefits

SALARY :    Min.: 947.80$/ 35 hours   Max.: 1 679.80$ /35 hours
NORTHERN PREMIUM  : 203.66$/week or as per family status
HIGH COST LIVING PREMIUM :  61.16$ / week or as per family status
RETENTION PREMIUM  :  114.99$ / week

Any employee recruited in Québec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she/he is called upon to perform her/his duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per her/his status.
