Mid-manager position for the Care Unit
(Hospital Department, clinic and sterilization, in Kuujjuaq)          

STATUS: Temporary full time position (35h/week)
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Nursing and Hospital Services

STARTING DATE: August 2019

The Ungava Tulattavik Health Center is a Nunavik multi-purpose facility serving seven (7) communities on the Ungava Bay coast, including Kuujjuaq, where the administrative center is located. The health center has nearly 500 full-time staff, a team of doctors, dentists and pharmacists and manages a budget of $ 80 million.

Under the authority of the Director of Nursing and Hospital Services, the incumbent provides leadership in a context of transformation and continuous improvement. He assumes the management of the human resources (± 60 employees to support), material, informational and financial under his responsibility according to the ministerial orientations and the achievement of the expected results. He/She ensures the organization, the dispensation as well as the quality of the care and the services offered to the users of the centers of activities under his/her responsibility (unit of care, external clinic, and sterilization). He/She applies the required control mechanisms and assumes accountability for the results.

He/She provides innovative leadership to promote excellence in the practice and delivery of activities; manages the professional activity with the constant concern to implement good practices; works closely with development partners in interdisciplinary; ensures the application of clinical-administrative policies and procedures regarding the provision of care to users of activity centers under its responsibility; provides emergency administrative guard on rotation (4-5/year) for all services of the Health Center in Kuujjuaq.


Member in good standing of the O.I.I.Q;
BAC in nursing or BAC by the accumulation of certificates; in the absence of the fully completed BAC, an exceptional experience may be considered;
A great sense of responsibility and organization is essential;
Ability to resist stress, strong autonomy and be able to work in a very different cultural environment; flexibility in working hours;
Ability to supervise a multidisciplinary team with positive leadership is essential;
Bilinguisme English / French, spoken and written is mandatory, Inuktitut is an asset;

Experience required

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a nurse plus 2 years of experience in managing a unit of care

Conditions and benefits

SALARY:  Class 15, mid-manager, conditions according to MHSS regulations
min : $40.05/ hour; $1401.82/ per week to max : $52.07/ hour $1822.35/ per week

ISOLATION PREMIUM: $10 015.00/ year, as per family status
CARGO PREMIUM: $3085.93 / year or as per the family status
RETENTION PREMIUM: $14 048.42 /year
