The nurse advisor is called upon advising the establishment in relations to programs for the prevention and control of nosocomial infections within the hospital environment. The infection prevention and control advisor identifies factors having an incidence on the occurrence of infections for the hospitalised patients or a given population. She ensures the surveillance of nosocomial infections, analyzes the risk of infection (present or anticipated), realizes epidemiological surveys and puts in place means and strategies to prevent their acquiring and transmission, therefore avoiding infectious disease or multiresistant bacteria outbreaks. She participates in the revision of quality improvement programs and professional activities pertaining to the program of infection prevention and control. She has a strong role in supporting the staff as much in the need for training and advice in specific infectious disease cases as situations such as hand washing campaigns.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in nursing or a baccalaureate composed of three (3) admissible certificates, of at least two (2) nursing-recognized certificates.
First course of the Infection prevention and control Microprogram: Introduction to infection prevention and control or having a valid CIC certification.
Possessing a 2nd university cycle degree in infection prevention and control considered an asset
Minimum of one (1) year experience in infection prevention and control
Northern experience an asset
Member in good standing of the Quebec Order of Nurses
Bilingualism essential (French and English), spoken and written. Inuktitut an asset
Capacity to work in a multicultural team. Respect of inuit traditions and culture
Marked facility for positive interpersonal relations and excellent capacities for mobilizing communication
