The Ungava Tulattavik Health Center is a multivocational institution in Nunavik, which serves seven villages of the coast of Ungava Bay including Kuujjuaq, where is located the administrative center. The health center has nearly 500 full-time employees, a team of doctors, dentists and pharmacists, and manages a budget of 75 million dollars.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Person who conceives, applies, evaluates program in prevention and control of infections for the whole establishment including the communities of the Ungava Bay. His/her main field of interventions are: master infections, the epidemiological surveillance, consulting function, educate, research development and communication
Ensure the development and realization of the prevention and control of infections programs; develop strategies; (protocols) insures the distribution according to rules foreseen by the establishment
Plan and carry out all activities and follow-ups connected to the prevention and control of infections;
Elaborate, revise and adapt the prevention of infections protocols by applying, rules and regulations and available data.
See to the application of policies, regulations and protocols for the control of infections and set up the required means of protection;
Exercise vigilance against infectious problems that may infect the clientele and makes recommendations to prevent transmission;
Ensure the implementation of protective measures during the outbreak of infectious diseases, present or apprehended by the recognized prevention system;
In problematic situations, make decisions of a very complex nature that may have an impact on all areas of the institution;
Perform epidemiological investigations;
Ensure the respect of the implementation process;
Performed on an ongoing basis, monitoring against specific needs of the clientele to make changes if necessary;
Develop work tools; collect data on nosocomiales infections and analyze them;
Develop and update computer files on the infections; transmit recommendations based on the result analysis;
Analyze, produce and transmit reports on infections and send them to the services involved;
Involve in disseminating information on the prevention of infections;
Elaborate and distribute educational programs in prevention and control of the infections to the entire staff of the health center, see to the application of hygiene measures;
Act as an expert toward the committee on risk management, answer the requests from the personnel; transmit recommendations on infectious problems; collaborate towards the development strategies concerning the prevention and control of infections;
Act as consultant with the professionals and administrators; also act as liaison agent internal as well as external;
Maintain up to date knowledge; elaborate and participate in relevant research projects; recommend, adapt and implant new practices that comes from the research.;
In association with the prevention of infections committee recommend directives concerning the prevention of infections to all sectors.
Plan and manage all activities related to the prevention and control of infections;
Should provide guidance on infection control, and transmit those to the persons responsible for sectors other than its own.
The person must have a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
All additional training in the field of the control of prevention of infections will be asset
Must be member of the O.I.I.Q.
Possess a minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience one of which post contained similar responsibilities
Master English and French (spoken and written); knowledge of Inuktitut would be an asset
Must have leadership, organisation and autonomy is necessity for working alone
Skill of animation and conciliation, person capable of establishing and maintaining positive interpersonal relations
Must agree to travel on the territory if needed
Capacity of adapting himself/herself to a different cultural reality
SALARY: Min.: $ 929.09 / week Max.: $ 1,721.15 / week
RETENTION PREMIUM: $ 269.23 / week
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $ 191.93 / week or as per the family status
HIGH COST LIVING PREMIUM: $ 59.14 / week or as per the family status
Any employee recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she/he is called upon to perform her/his duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per her/his status, shared lodging if necessary or transit for an undetermined period, but temporary.
