Youth Protection – Kuujjuaq
“Evaluation and Orientation”
STATUS: Temporary full-time position (38.75 hours/week, dayshift)Temporary assignment for a period of one year with the possibility of an extension
IMMEDIATE SUPERIOR: Head of service –RTS  (EO)
STARTING DATE:  As soon as possible


Person whom, under the authority of the Director of Youth Protection and his Head of services, perform (paired with authorized person) activities of analysis, conception and evaluation for the signalements retain and the conception and actualization of intervention plans in order to put an end to the compromising situation of beneficiaries. The person would also have to implement measures ordered be the Court or the agreements of voluntary measures. The person will assume some psychosocial on-call duty. The person will be asked to make replacements in one of the seven communities of Ungava Bay (Regional evaluation). The successful candidate will be required to work in conjunction with an HRO who is a member of their Order in Orientation Assessment.


Diploma (DEC) with a core concentration in specialised educational techniques or institutional rehabilitation from a school recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport;

In the absence of candidates who meet the full requirements of the position, a candidate with a diploma in an appropriate discipline (e.g. social work, delinquency intervention, etc.) may be considered.

Have a theoretical and practical knowledge of the Youth Protection Act and the concept of protection;

Have relevant experience with children in youth protection

Ability to communicate correctly in English, French and ideally in Inuktitut

Ability to adapt to a different culture and environment

A sense for analysis and synthesis

Capacity to work in a context of emergency, instability and pressure

Capacity to work in a team;

Discrete, autonomous, emphatic, diplomat, responsible, with a good sense of listening, added with initiative, strictness and proper judgment

Detain a valid driver license

Must be available to travel to Ungava Bay communities.



Conditions and benefits

SALARY (Class 1): Min. $ 960.23 / week to Max. $1382.21 / week
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $ 203.66 / week
RETENTION PREMIUM: $ 114.99 / week
HIGH COST OF LIVING PREMIUM:  $ 61.16 / week or more, as per family status

Any person recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometres from the locality in which he or she is called upon to perform his/her duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per status, transit or shared lodging if necessary.
