FUNCTIONS:
Ensure the education and rehabilitation of the clientele aged 0 to 17 years old, in their home environment, in accordance with the clinical intervention programs established in collaboration with the existing professional team;
Implement educational techniques by using daily living activities; organize, coordinate and lead the activities that are part of the program;
Supports and collaborates extensively with parents and clients in order to restore harmony and reduce the risk of multiple placements in foster families or rehabilitation centers;
Accompany family in the decoding and understanding of the adaptation mechanisms of the user in order to ensure that the users are learning and acquiring suitable attitudes and behaviours;
Organizes, deploys and facilitates individual or group workshops on various themes (anger management, emotion regulation, etc.).
Assists, supervises and reports on family contacts.
Observe and analyse the clients’ behaviours, participate in the evaluation of their needs and abilities, keep progress notes and produce appropriate reports;
Working with social workers in the development of intervention plans based on clients needs and legal mandate, in order to put an end to and prevent the recurrence of a situation in which the security or the development of the child is in danger;
The Educators will be asked to travel to perform periods of work in the different communities in Nunavik as needed.
CEGEP diploma with a core concentration in specialised educational techniques or institutional rehabilitation from a school recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport;
Bilingualism (English and French), spoken and written. Inuktitut would be an asset;
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
Capacity to adapt to a new cultural environment;
Be sensitive, understanding and emotionally mature and display a positive attitude;
Available to work day, evening and week-end shifts;
Available to travel across the Nunavik territory;
Willing to participate in any training provided by the employer or educational institution and deemed necessary for a more effective performance of their duties or tasks;
Share knowledge and skills, work in collaboration with social interveners.
SALARY (Class 1): Min. $ 895.90 / week to Max. $1 302.39 / week
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $ 203.66 / week
RETENTION PREMIUM: $ 114.99 / week
HIGH COST OF LIVING PREMIUM: $ 61.16 / week
Any person recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometres from the locality in which he or she is called upon to perform his/her duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per status, transit or shared lodging if necessary.
