Respiratory Therapist - Kuujjuaq Home Care Services

STATUS : Temporary Part Time vacations’ replacement (35.00 hours/week, 4x 3-4 weeks / year)  
SUPERVISOR : Head of programs physical rehabilitation
STARTING DATE : As soon as possible

Under the responsibility of the Head of Program Home Care, the person plans, coordinates and monitors respiratory therapy needs of the clients. He/she monitors home users requiring care and / or support devices according to their respiratory condition in the territory of UTHC He/she assesses the need for equipment and ensures the proper functioning of respiratory equipment belonging to home care, through audits and interviews. She is in charge of the screening, interpretation and follow-up of people referred for sleep apnea problems. He/she ensures that services are deliver in the respect of Inuit traditions, culture and language. He/she works in a multi-disciplinary team and has to collaborate with other service providers to ensure the complementarity of services. He/she visits the different points of service distributed along the territory served by the UTHC to provide services in all communities. He/she teaches clients, their families and intervenants. He/she has to develop protocols, tools, proceedings and ensure that everything is in harmony with the practice guidelines.



Have a college diploma specializing in respiratory therapy techniques, recognized by the Quebec Ministry of Education;
Minimum of 2 years experience as respiratory therapist;
Be a member of l’Ordre professionnels des inhalothérapeutes du Québec;
Knowledge of programming and monitoring of CPAP machines is an asset;
Relevant work experience in the Health and Social Services network;
Experience in the emergency room, intensive care is an asset;
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
Good adaptation capacity;
Experience in remote areas would be an asset;
Good management of stress;
Bilingual French and English, spoken and written; knowledge of Inuktitut would be an asset;
Ability to work in consultation with dispersed staff in communities;
Available to travel to communities;
Valid driver's license.


Conditions and benefits

SALARY : Min.  $952.13/sem.    Max.  $1477.50/sem.
ISOLATION PREMIUM : 203.66$/ week as per the family situation
HIGH COST OF LIVING PREM : 61.16$/ week or as per the family situation

If you have a desire of a professional experience in a Nordic context, we invite you to join our team.  Anyone recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality where he is required to perform his duties, shall be entitled to : three or four vacation trips per year (as per the family status), housing provided free of charge (transit or shared lodging if necessary) moving and storage expenses.
