MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE

Under the authority of the Head of the Material Facilities Department, the incumbent must keep all facilities operational in accordance with the codes in force. It carries out maintenance and repair work, repairs of all kinds, certain installations for the entire housing stock on the Hudson Bay coast. More specifically, this person performs the work to keep the various systems of the establishment in good condition. Plumbing and heating maintenance, pumps, motors, ventilation and filters, fire alarm, door hardware, vehicle assistance, basic electrical maintenance, telecommunications, handling, parts ordering, preventive and general corrective maintenance, etc... The skill card held will make it possible to target certain types of work more.

TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES 

  • Inspect, repair, and/or replace building appliances and equipment. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance required for all equipment (including heating systems).
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the vehicle fleet of the villages under his responsibility.
  • Read and interpret drawings and diagrams, plan work methods to determine tool and material needs.
  • Perform welding work if required, excluding high pressure welding.
  • Comply with all safety rules and procedures and follow lockout, infection prevention and other procedures.
  • Make recommendations regarding repairs or modifications to his immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain the inventory and place orders for materials, parts and equipment necessary for the maintenance of the buildings under his responsibility.
  • Perform maintenance work in plumbing, carpentry, plaster, painting, locksmithing, ventilation or any other related tasks at the request of his immediate superior.
  • Carry out snow removal and transport work using heavy machinery, if required. Perform facility relocations.
  • Carry out on-call periods if and as needed with his work team, if required.

Qualifications
  • Holding either a Plumber or Electrician competency card issued by the CCQ or a Fixed Machinery card (MMF) with refrigeration classes will be considered an asset.
  • Any combination of training and experience demonstrating knowledge of hot water heating and oil furnaces, maintenance electricity, pressure equipment, refrigeration could be considered could be considered.
  • Hold a valid driver's license in Quebec.
Experience required
  • Have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in the field of construction or maintenance and repair in a commercial, institutional, industrial, governmental or municipal sector.

Conditions and benefits

According to the salary corresponding to the job title 6360 for unionized staff of the Health and Social Services sector.

  • Day schedule: 38.75hrs/week (7.75hrs/day)
  • Salary: $25.78/hr
  • Furnished accommodation provided
  • Plane tickets paid for by the center
  • 3 to 4 annual outings depending on status
  • Cargo premium: $36.64
  • remoteness allowance: $199.67
  • Retention bonus: 10% of base salary
