IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Technical Services Coordinator
STARTING DATE: April 2021
Under the authority of the Technical Services Coordinator : A person who, in accordance with the Act and applicable codes, provides general operation and/or maintenance of stationary machinery and mechanical equipment such as steam engines or boilers, air compressors, ventilation units, refrigeration units. It monitors meters, pressure gauges and controls (on-site and remote) and makes the necessary adjustments and repairs. Maintains performance records. She is also in charge of the following systems in institutional buildings: drinking water distribution; wastewater management; oxygen and medical air production and distribution; suction equipment and emergency generators. In addition, it installs, operates, repairs and maintains domestic equipment such as furnaces, water pumps and glycol circulators. The person will be called upon to go to other communities for repairs as needed. The person will have to be available for emergency on-call duty, on rotation, evenings, nights and weekends.
The person who holds a certificate in refrigeration equipment (A-B), receives a weekly salary supplement, if the nature of the equipment he or she controls requires such a certificate.
Must, in accordance with the Act respecting manpower vocational training and qualification, hold a certificate of qualification in Stationary Machinery-Mechanics (power generation) issued by the competent authority.
Must hold a valid Class 4 stationary Machinery-Mechanics certificate
A Class A or B certificate in refrigeration equipment is an asset
A good knowledge of residential oil furnaces and the ability to repair and maintain them.
Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position
Good knowledge of building maintenance methods
Possess a valid Quebec driver's license
Fluency in French and English, spoken and written, Inuktituut is an asset.
Must be able to work with Word and Excel software of the Microsoft Office Suite
Organizational skills, autonomy
Available to travel to other communities in the Nunavik as needed
SALARY: $924.96 / week (class 4)
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $191.93 / week, or more as per family status
CARGO PREMIUM: $59.14 / week, or more-as per family status
ATTRACTION-RETENTION PREMIUM : 10% (temporary measure)
