Speech Therapist– Early Action

STATUS: Occasional part-time position (35h / week)

The Ungava Tulattavik Health Center offers the services of the Acting Early program: an early screening and intervention program aimed towards the healthy development of young children. Being in the midst of an expansion and development phase, this position will allow you to take up a stimulations and proactive challenge.

The person is part of the CLSC team, works directly with the children and their families and may be called upon to intervene in the child's various living environments (home, daycare, school). She is based in Kuujjuaq but will be called upon to travel to neighbouring communities to conduct assessments, develop treatment plans and supervise stimulation activities with the team members on site. In a multidisciplinary context, she conducts assessments and intervenes mainly with children aged 0-5 years with signs of language delays, but may be called upon to respond to the needs of other clienteles for specific needs.

Evaluates the functions of language, voice and speech;
Determines a treatment and intervention plan and ensures its implementation in order to improve or restore communication;
Participate with the team in screening for developmental delays and in supporting children in collaboration with families and childcare centers;
Organizes early stimulation activities and early intervention in individual and group situations;
Works in concert with the various stakeholders in the community;
Develop written awareness and information material on child development;
Participate in the revision of intervention plans and programs in collaboration with the other members of the Early Action Program team taking into account the priority needs, the child's strengths, the environment and the expectations of the parents.



Must have a master's degree in speech therapy;
Must be a member of the Professional Order of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Quebec;
Minimum of two years of clinical experience in child development;
Knowledge of the development of children 0-7 years old and of screening and assessment tools;
Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders;
Organise des activités de stimulation et intervention précoce en individuel et en situation de groupe;
French and English bilingualism required both oral and written, knowledge of Inuktitut will be an asset;
Experience in remote areas will be an asset;
Knowledge of Inuit culture and values will be an asset;
Ability to work in concert with the various stakeholders in the community;
Ability to teach and provide training to local stakeholders;
Available to travel to the communities of the Ungava Coast;
Must have a valid driver's license.

Conditions and benefits

SALARY: Min :$ 961.10 $ Max : $ 1763.65 /week
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $ 203.66 /week 
HIGH COST OF LIVING: $ 61.16 /week
