PAINTER - PLASTERER

Under the direction of the Physical Plant Manager, the incumbent is responsible for preparation and painting of surfaces, both inside and outside the buildings as required exterior as required. He/she mixes the colors, applies the synthetic coating using brushes using brushes, spray guns and rollers. He performs general work in connection with maintenance and repair, installation of gypsum, drawing of joints, finishing, handling, repair or handling, repairing or miscellaneous work related to the entire Bay Area building stock of the Hudson Bay coast real estate. More specifically, this person performs work to maintain in good condition the various surfaces of the establishment (walls, ceilings, furniture, integrated or not, management of inventory of materials and equipment related to painting and grouting). See to the installation of metal laths and corners to receive coatings. Prepare the finish for the
painting afterwards.

TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES 

  • Inspect, repair, and/or refinish and install walls, ceilings (suspended or not), partitions. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance required to keep surfaces (walls, ceilings, moldings, painted floors condition (walls, ceilings, moldings, floors painted as needed, equipment, fixed oreas needed).
  • Install shelves, doors, hardware, adjustments required, blinds, poles, frames, moldings, replace sensors, outlet and switch plates, ceiling lights and other general repairs not other basic general repairs that do not require other skill cards.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, plans work methods to determine tool and material requirements tools and materials.
  • Participates in the development and execution of a Painting Plan for all ISC buildings of the ISC.
  • Make recommendations regarding repairs or modifications to his/her immediate supervisor immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain the inventory and place orders for materials, parts and equipment required for the maintenance of necessary for the maintenance of the buildings under his/her responsibility.
  • Performs minor work or any other related tasks as requested by his/her immediate immediate superior.
  • Perform on-call duty as required with his/her work team.

Qualifications
  • Hold a Painter's and ideally a Plasterer's (journeyman) competency card ideally as a plasterer (journeyman) issued by the CCQ or by Emploi Québec for non-construction work. The in building painting and/or plastering is essential.
  • Hold a valid Quebec driver's license
Experience required
  • Have a minimum of four (3) years of experience in the field of in the field of construction and/or maintenance in a maintenance in a commercial, institutional, industrial governmental or municipal sector.

  • Knowledge of tools, work instruments and materials. Knowledge of estimator and installer. Knowledge of the operation and infrastructure of
    infrastructure of buildings.
Conditions and benefits
  • Full time permanent 
  • Position based in Puvirnituq with travel to the coast when requested.
  • Shift work; DAY - 7.75 hrs per day
  • Cargo premium $115.64/week
  • Remoteness premium $203.66/week without dependent $358.99/week with dependent;
  • 3 to 4 outings per year depending on family status;
  • Furnished housing provided; 
  • Air transportation paid by the center.
