PROGRAM: Youth and Family
SUPERVISOR: Head of Child, Youth and Family Programs
STATUS: Temporary full time position – 6 months with possibility of extension
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the person plans and conducts assessment, orientation, counseling and psychological follow-up activities adapted to the needs of children and adults. The psychologist may be called upon to collaborate with several partners. He or she may also be called upon to intervene directly in the community (home meetings, group sessions in a community organization, etc.). He or she is part of the psychosocial on-call team 24/7.
Must hold a Doctorate in psychology;
Be an active member of the «Ordre professionnel des Psychologues du Québec»;
Possess at least five (5) years of experience in youth mental health;
Possess experience in the treatment of trauma, grief, sexual abuse, attachment etc. in children and adolescents;
Possess experience in family and group intervention;
Experience in play therapy would be an asset;
Ability to create a therapeutic link with clients;
Excellent knowledge of French and English (written and spoken), knowledge of Inuktitut would be an asset;
Sense of organization, adaptation, creativity, initiative and autonomy;
Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team;
Must be available to travel to other communities of Ungava Bay
A valid driver’s license;
Be available day, evening and night for psychosocial on-call duty.
SALARY: Min.: $ 925.05 Max.: $ 1,743.75 (35 hours)
ISOLATION PREMIUM: $191.93 or $ 338.29 / week.as per the family status
HIGH COST OF LIVING: $ 59.14 / week, or as per the family status
Any person recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she is called upon to perform her duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per her family status, transit or shared lodging if necessary.
