PSYCHOLOGIST (0-17 clientele and their family) -   Kuujjuaq

HIRING LOCATION : South based position (Telecommuting & travel to the North) 3/3 weeks telecommuting & Kuujjuaq
PROGRAM : Youth and family
SUPERVISOR : Head of program Youth and Family
STATUS : Temporary full time position – 6 months with possibility of extension
STARTING DATE : As soon as possible

Under the authority of the Program Manager, the person designs and conducts assessment, orientation, counseling and psychological follow-up activities adapted to the needs of children, teenagers and families. The psychologist could be called upon to collaborate with several partners. He may also intervene directly in the community (home meetings, group sessions in a community organization, etc.). He is part of the psychosocial care team 24/7.


Hold a post-graduate degree in psychology;
Be an active member of the «Ordre professionnel des Psychologues du Québec» (OPQ);
Have at least five (5) years’ experience in youth mental health;
Have experience in treatment of trauma, attachment issues, grief, sexual abuse, physical abuse, etc. in children and adolescents;
Have experience in family and group intervention;
Experience in play therapy would be an asset;
Ability to create a therapeutic relation with clients in an intercultural context;
Excellent knowledge of French and English (written and spoken), knowledge of Inuktitut would be an asset;
Sense of organization, adaptation, creativity, initiative and autonomy;
Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team;
Must be available to travel to other communities in Ungava Bay;
Have a valid driver’s license;
Be available day, evening and night for psychosocial care. 

Conditions and benefits

SALARY : Min.:  $ 991.55              Max.:  $ 1850.80 (35 hours)

Northern allowance rates :
Breakfast : 15.60$/ day
Lunch : 21.45$/ day
Dinner : 32.33/ day
*Northern allowance rates will be assigned on a daily basis when working in the northern territory.
Any person recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she is called upon to perform her duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per her family status, transit or shared lodging if necessary.
