Building Technician

The Inuulitsivik Health Center, which has more than 900 employees, is part of the Quebec network of health and social services in the Nunavik region. It provides front-line health and social services, including prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation and support, to the population of approximately 7,000 people in the Hudson sub-region. In addition, it offers services related to youth protection as well as management, on behalf of the Nunavik region, of Ullivik, located in Dorval. The Ullivik's mission is to welcome Inuit traveling south to receive health services from participating Montreal hospitals. The Inuit population is distributed among the seven communities along the coast of Hudson Bay.
Under the authority of the Head of the physical installations department, the incumbent must ensure the proper functioning of the mechanical building systems in accordance with the codes in force in addition to tend to optimize their energy performance. He performs diagnostic work, surveys, functional tests, prepares reports, participates in repairs or repairs of any kind for the entire building stock on the Hudson Bay coast. More specifically in the maintenance of building systems, she will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and good operating condition of various building systems (electricity, heating, plumbing, piping, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, fire protection, lighting, etc. etc.). She will have to analyze, adjust and maintain these various systems, check their condition, whether they meet building standards and resolve operational problems. She will have to collaborate with a team of specialized workers or sometimes, contractors such as (electricians, plumbers, refrigeration engineers, maintenance mechanics, day laborers, contractors, etc.). It will intervene in intrusion security, fire alarm, elevators, electronic hardware, heating devices, pump, motor, lighting, AUTOMATED CONTROL, HVAC, REFRIGERATION, telecommunications, etc.

FUNCTIONS : Inspect, adjust, repair, and / or replace building mechanical devices and equipment. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as required for all equipment and systems. Help run the vehicle fleet in the villages under its responsibility. Read and interpret drawings and diagrams, make sketches, diagrams, estimates and technical documents useful for tenders for service contracts. Helping to operate the vehicle fleet in the villages under its responsibility. Plan work methods to determine the needs for tools and materials in accordance with the codes, standards and instructions in force. Observe all safety rules and instructions and follow lockout, infection prevention and other procedures. Make recommendations concerning maintenance, standardization, repairs or modifications to his immediate superior. Maintain the inventory of electromechanical plans and specifications, place orders for materials, parts and equipment necessary for the maintenance of buildings under his responsibility. Perform a variety of work and all other related tasks at the request of his immediate superior. Sometimes carry out moves and handling for the establishment. Carry out on-call periods with his work team, if necessary.
 

Qualifications

Hold a valid college DEC in Building Mechanics issued by the Ministry of Education. Strong experience in HVAC regulation and controls and in Refrigeration will be considered an important asset.
At least 10 years of experience in all these spheres with a PED could be considered in the absence of DEC.
Hold a valid driver's license in Quebec.
Bilingualism essential (French and English) both oral and written; Inuktitut is considered an asset.
 

Experience required

Have a minimum of (3) years of experience in the construction and / or maintenance field in a commercial, institutional, industrial, government or municipal sector.

Conditions and benefits

Permanent full time position based in Puvirnituq with travels on the coast, when requested
Salary rate beteween  22.74$/hr and 31.99$/hr
38.75 hres/week

Maximum of 16 weeks of leave per year;
3 to 4 annual exits depending on status;
Freight premium $ 115.64 / week;
Retention premium $ 114.99 / week;
Remoteness premium $ 191.93 / week without dependents, $ 338.29 / week with dependents;
