Day Center – Tusaajiapik Elder’s Home - Kuujjuaq
STATUS : Permanent full-time position - 35 hours/week
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Elder's home and day center program manager.
STARTING DATE : As soon as possible
The individual is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for programs that meet the individual and
collective needs of participants in the activities of the Day Center.

In collaboration with the Rehabilitation Assistant, the Program manager and other stakeholders and partners; develops and organizes the services and activities of the day center;
Promotes outings and activities and engages participants in creative therapeutic activities using various modalities, including arts and crafts, music, cognitive, physical and social activities that reflect Inuit culture and traditions;
Builds strong relationships with the community, and promotes intergenerational and multigenerational relationships and activities. Focus on preserving Inuit traditions such as narration, traditional sewing, etc.;
Plans and implements programs focused on the needs of seniors with various health problems, loss of autonomy and / or cognitive impairment;
Develop a social geriatric approach, where family members, volunteers, the community and all participants feel welcomed and engaged while fostering a strong sense of belonging;
Creates a dynamic, fun and judgmental environment in which seniors can develop, maintain their abilities and feel valued;
Participates in training on Alzheimer's disease, dementia, etc.;
Plans equipment needed for activities, ensure the inventory.


Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Occupational Therapy or in another appropriate university discipline;
In the absence of a candidate who meets all the requirements of the position, a candidate with a technician status in an appropriate discipline may be considered.  If a technician candidate is selected, the applicable salary range will be that which corresponds to his/her level of education;
Two (2) years of work experience with the elderly population losing their autonomy, especially those living with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia;
Experience in geriatrics would be an asset;
Experience working in an intercultural environment;
Knowledge of Inuit culture required, Inuktitut is an asset;
Interpersonal, ethical and problem-solving skills;
Experience in volunteer engagement, support and supervision would be an asset;
Ability to develop and maintain an inventory of program supplies;
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team independently, demonstrating empathy and flexibility;
Ability to maintain a high standard of ethics and confidentiality towards clients and their families;
Bilingual French and English;
Ability to communicate knowledge to local Inuit staff;
Valid driver's license.

Conditions and benefits

SALARY : Min.:  917.70$ / week   Max.: $1,522.12 / week
ISOLATION PREMIUM : 203.66$ / week, as per the family situation
HIGH COST OF LIVING PREM : 61.16$/ week or as per the family situation
RETENTION PREMIUM : 114.99$/ week

Any person recruited in Quebec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she is called upon to perform her duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per status, shared lodging or transit if necessary.
