MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

The Inuulitsivik Health Centre, with more than 900 employees, is part of the Québec health and social services network in the Nunavik region. It provides front-line health and social services for the population of the Hudson subregion. The Inuit population is distributed among the seven communities along the Hudson Bay coast, from Kuujjuaraapik to Salluit.

The medical technologist performs medical-biology tests and examinations on the human body or on specimens and ensures the technical validity of the results for the purposes of diagnosis, therapeutic follow-up or research.

Qualifications
  • College-level diploma (DEC) with specialization in medical technology from a teaching institution recognized by the relevant ministry
  • Membership in the Ordre professionnel des technologistes médicaux du Québec
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a medical laboratory
  • Informatics skills (Word, Lotus Notes)
  • Mastery of French and working knowledge of English

Conditions and benefits

  • Two positions available based in Puvirnituq
  • Work/vacation schedule: 8-9 weeks in the North alternating with 4 weeks of leave in the South for a candidate without dependants, two leave periods of five weeks and one of six weeks for a candidate with dependants
  • Hourly rate from 23.12/hr to 33.61/hr
  • Rotation of 35 hours per week
  • Cargo allowance of $115.64 per week
  • Isolation premium of $191.93 per week for a candidate without dependants and $338.29 per week for a candidate with dependants
  • Retention premium from $114.99 per week

  • Moving and storage expenses reimbursed by the health centre
  • Up to 16 weeks of vacation per year
*** Professionals working in the health and social services network may apply with their institution for northern leave without pay (up to 48 months) to work in Nunavik ***
